Amethyst River is an abstract painting emphasizing the acrylic flow technique, a variation on American Color Field Painting. The central colors--ruby red and purple--were chosen to give a jewel-like feeling to the piece. The contrast between the jewel colors which imply hardness and the fluidity of the painting is the central focus. Under what circumstances would jewels melt together and flow like lava? As far as I know, only in the limitless realm of the imagination! This is a small piece, suitable for an office, a reading corner, an apartment or other tight spaces.
