Atrium Gallery
Exhibit Sept - Oct 2010
The Bozeman Public Library Foundation invites the community to the artist opening reception on Friday, Sept. 10, 5:30-7 p.m. for Kathleen Karlsen’s new exhibit "From the Big Sky to the Night Sky" in the Atrium Gallery.
Working in acrylic and mixed media, Karlsen’s path as a professional artist began with the creation of colorful florals and landscapes, but she has expanded into images based on the photos of the universe sent back by the Hubble telescope. Her work of mixed media will be displayed through the month of October. All artwork is for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Bozeman Library Foundation to benefit the Library.

Zoot Art Gallery
Exhibit March - July 2008
When Zoot founder and CEO Chris Nelson planned Zoot’s new headquarters building, he required an unusual design element: space for a dedicated, first-rate art gallery. “Art spurs creativity in the work place and we wanted to have that environment here. It’s also important to provide local artists with a venue to display their works, and Zoot is doing as much as it can to make its gallery available to them,” says Nelson.
The museum-quality gallery boasts 108 square feet of wall hanging space and large floor areas for sculpture. One exhibiting artist recently described it as “...arguably the finest gallery space in the area.” All work sold through the gallery is commission-free. Underwriting is provided for artists’ opening receptions.
The exhibits of Montana-only artists rotate approximately every four months and are selected by the Zoot Committee for the Arts. Learn more about the Zoot Art Gallery.

Karlsen Featured Artist in Learning Series
Kathleen Karlsen has been selected as a featured artist in a new early learning multimedia series currently being produced by the Soul Learning Company. Images of ten oil paintings by Karlsen will appear in the series to be relased in early 2005. Karlsen's contemporary floral art, characterized by vibrant, clear colors and sculptural textures, has been influenced by her studies of scientific research on the impact of art on human wellness.
Since floral images have been shown to reduce both emotional and physiological stress, the artist's work fits well with the early learning program's emphasis on relaxation and right brain enrichment. Information on the early learning series is abvailable at rightbrainkids.blogspot.com.
Karlsen's Art Selected for Magazine and Book Covers
Kathleen Karlsen's art (Sunday Roses) has been selected for the cover of a book of poetry by Georgia Cold (publication 2008). Her art (Universal Light) has also been selected for a book entitled Fortunate Wisdoms, featuring universal spiritual teachings and uplifting quotes and stories. Kathleen's work (The Little Trio and An Imaginary Spot) has been featured twice (2004 & 2007) on the cover of the Natural Life News & Directory, a magazine focusing on holistic and healthy living. |
